We have some very exciting news to share: Java Whiskers has officially reached 1,000 cat adoptions!
Since opening our very first rescue cat café in Stockholm seven years ago, our mission has always been about so much more than coffee and cat cuddles. At the heart of Java Whiskers Cat Café is one simple goal: to help rescue cats find safe, loving and permanent homes.
Across our three cat cafés and over the past seven years, 1,000 rescue cats have now found their forever homes – a milestone we’re incredibly proud to celebrate.
How cat adoption works at Java Whiskers
Every rescue cat that comes to Java Whiskers has their own personality, story and needs. Some settle in straight away, while others need a little more time and reassurance to feel at home.
That’s why our adoption model has never been about finding homes as quickly as possible. Cats stay with us for a minimum period before becoming available for adoption, giving them time to settle while our team gets to know their personality and what kind of home might suit them best.
Our priority is always finding the right home, not simply the first home. It’s an approach we’ve carefully developed with our rescue partners over the past seven years, with the welfare of our rescue cats at the heart of every decision.

Behind every adoption is an incredible amount of work, and reaching this milestone simply wouldn’t have been possible without the rescue organisations we’ve been lucky enough to work alongside.
In the UK, we work with The Scratching Post and Furry Ears Rescue, while in Sweden we work with HUKH. Together, we get to know each cat and work carefully through the adoption process, vetting potential adopters and matching each cat with a home that suits their individual personality and needs.
Our rescue partners do an incredible job caring for cats in need, and we’re incredibly proud to play our part in their journey. Together, over the past seven years, we’ve helped 1,000 rescue cats find loving forever homes

Our cats and kittens become available for adoption once they’ve had time to settle in and our team has had the opportunity to get to know them. We want every adoption to be the right match for both the cat and their new family, so our adoption process is designed to help us find the most suitable forever home for each individual cat.
