When you are interested in adopting a cat
ONE
Come visit Java Whiskers and meet the cats.
TWO
Register your interest directly by sending your application for adoption by filling out the form. Please note, all cats from our Marylebone café require an outdoor space.
THREE
The Furry Ears/Scratching Post Manager will review all emails.
If you are selected as a potential adopter you will then be contacted by the rescue for a home check within two weeks of your application.
You will be asked to show us around your home as well as answer some further questions.
You will also be asked for proof of address eg council tax bill.
Please beware that the cats might not be ready to move immediately after adoption is accepted.
The rescue will inform you about each cat’s specific timeline if you are approved to take the next step in the adoption process.
FOUR
Your adoption application is approved.
FIVE
Pick-up will take place at the Java Whiskers Café by appointment agreed upon with Java Whiskers and after you’ve paid the adoption fee to the rescue.
Pick-up days at Marylebone are Mondays 8am-4pm and at White City they are all day Wednesday or Sundays 10am-12pm.
You will get a text message from a team member to set up a time and date.
On adoption, you will be provided with the cat’s vaccination card, chip registration forms to be completed and one month’s Pet Plan insurance.
General Information
Adoption fees are per cat as stated on the shelter’s adoption form. Please note, that we are partnered with multiple shelters that are responsible for setting their adoption fee which is subject to the shelter’s needs. Please ensure you are referencing the correct adoption form found on the page of the cat or kitten you are interested in applying for.
This covers microchip, spaying, the first set of vaccinations, veterinarian check and worming & flea treatment.
Included as a gift from us you will get a beautiful name tag.
Disclaimer:
There will be more than applications than the café is housing. Therefore, it is inevitable that some applications may not be successful for each cat. If you are unsuccessful, you may wish to be kept on file for future cats, or rehome directly from The Scratching Post & Furry Ears Rescue, where many other cats are waiting to be adopted.
By registering your interest in a cat, you are accepting that Java Whiskers and The Scratching Post & Furry Ears Rescue reserve the right to make any final choice of an adopter. These decisions will be made in the very best interests of the cat.
When rehoming one or two of our cats, the most important aspect is finding the right match for both the cats and the owners.
The cats all have individual and unique needs and it’s important that your home is suited to the cat you are interested in. Know that The Scratching Post & Furry Ears Rescue might suggest an alternative cat that they see to be a match for you.
