the adoption process
Step 1: Visit Us and Meet Our Cats
To adopt a cat from our cat café, start by visiting us to meet our rescue cats! Whether you instantly bond or want to keep your options open, it’s the perfect place to find your new feline friend. Then, for more information on the cats you meet, head to the Our Cats section on our website.
Step 2: Submit an Adoption Application
On the Our Cats page, select the café you’d like to adopt a cat from and fill out the application form. The form asks for basic details about your living situation and what you’re looking for in a cat. Please note, all cats from our Marylebone café require an outdoor space.
Step 3: Shelter Partner Review
Our shelter partner will review your application to assess your compatibility with the cat(s) you’re interested in. You can expect to hear back within two weeks. If they think you’re a potential match, they will discuss the next steps, answer any questions you might have, and arrange a home visit.
Step 4: Successful Application
Once matched with your new feline friend, our shelter partner will guide you through the final adoption steps. This includes paperwork, an adoption fee, and a discussion of the cat’s care needs. Our team will ensure you’re fully prepared to welcome your new cat home.
Step 5: Bring Your New Cat Home
You will pick up your new feline family member from the cat café, and a Java Whiskers team member will contact you to arrange the pick-up date and time. Upon adoption, you’ll receive the cat’s vaccination card, chip registration forms to complete, and one month’s Pet Plan insurance.
